What Is a Medical-Grade Facial?
A medical facial is a professional skin treatment performed by a trained aesthetician in a clinical setting. Our team may recommend a corrective plan if you want to improve a specific concern like acne, a maintenance plan if you're looking for general improvements in skin health or a quick glow-up if you want to look radiant for a special occasion.
Our facial treatments can address a range of skin issues, including:
- Dry or dehydrated skin
- Oily and congested skin
- Dullness and loss of radiance
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone
- Hyperpigmentation
- Redness
- Acne and acne scars
- Vellus hair (peach fuzz)
How Are Clinical Facials Different From Spa Facials?
Spa facials are primarily intended to be a soothing, pampering experience. They use lower-strength products and generally follow a one-size-fits-all approach designed for the average skin type.
Medical-grade facials and clinical facial treatments, like those offered at LIVskin, are different. These treatments use more powerful ingredients and more advanced technology available only to licensed professionals to target skin concerns on a deeper level. Their efficacy and longevity far surpass the facials you can find in a spa or perform at home.
What Facials Are Available at LIVskin in Minnetonka and Excelsior?
We offer a curated selection of facials to match different skin types and goals. Some are designed for targeted correction. Others are perfect for monthly maintenance or a quick refresh before an event. Explore your options below.
Clinical Acne Facial — $169
This facial is designed for patients dealing with active breakouts, congestion or persistent acne. Your aesthetician will perform professional extractions and apply products that reduce inflammation and clarify the skin. If you are managing acne, this treatment pairs well with a consistent at-home routine and follow-up appointments to keep your breakouts under control.
Vitamin C Facial — $150
Vitamin C is one of the most researched ingredients in skincare, known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to brighten skin tone. This facial delivers a concentrated dose of vitamin C to help improve dullness, even out discoloration and leave your skin looking refreshed and healthy. Your aesthetician may recommend it if your skin is feeling tired or lackluster and you want a visible pick-me-up.
Dermaplaning — $66
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique in which your aesthetician uses a sterile surgical blade to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of your face. The treatment leaves your skin immediately smoother and allows your skincare products to absorb more effectively. Dermaplaning can be booked as a standalone service or added on to another facial.
Epic Facial — $266
The Epic Facial is a three-in-one service that combines a Vitamin C Facial, dermaplaning and a Sensitive Skin Solution MicroPeel into one appointment. The result is a thorough exfoliation, a brighter complexion and smoother texture with no downtime. If you want to experience the best of what our facial menu has to offer in one sitting, this is it.
Glo2Facial — $199–269
The Glo2Facial combines a patented technology to oxygenate and exfoliate your skin with radiofrequency to promote collagen production, ultrasound to infuse serums and a detox step for lymphatic drainage. With eight different facial options to choose from, there is something for any skin type or concern. Treat your face or skin concerns on a body area such as the chest, arms, back, legs or bikini line.
Hydrafacial™ — $199–299
The Hydrafacial™ is a device-based treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates your skin using patented vortex suction technology. It is one of the most requested facials in our medical spa because it is safe for all skin types and delivers immediate results with zero downtime. Choose from the Signature Hydrafacial, the Liv Hydrafacial with Booster or the Platinum Hydrafacial.
DiamondGlow® — $199–269
DiamondGlow® is a medical-grade skin resurfacing treatment that simultaneously exfoliates, extracts and infuses condition-specific serums from SkinMedica® deep into your skin. The treatment also supports lymphatic drainage, which helps improve the appearance of puffiness, encourages the removal of toxins and brightens your skin.
Add-Ons
Enhance any facial with one of our add-on treatments:
- Biocellulose Restorative Masque — $25
- Rejuvenating Eye Treatment — $20

What to Expect From Your Facial at LIVskin
Consultation
Choosing the right facial is a collaborative process that starts with a consultation. You will meet with an Advanced Practice Aesthetician who will assess your skin type and listen to the goals you have for your skin to determine which treatment or treatment combination can best address your needs.
Your consultation may include a complimentary scan with our VISIA® Skin Analysis System. With VISIA®, we can take a detailed look at the condition of your skin beyond what the naked eye can see. This helps us decide which treatments will have the most impact and track improvements in your skin over time.
Treatment
While our facial treatments are result-oriented, we don't overlook the importance of a relaxing, enjoyable experience. From the warm welcome of our concierge team to the gentle touch of our Advanced Practice Aestheticians, every aspect of your LIVskin facial is designed to make you feel at ease.
The steps of your facial will depend on which treatment you choose and any add-ons or complementary treatments you decide to include. Some options can be completed in as little as 30 minutes. Others are a more indulgent 60–90 minute experience.
Recovery
There will be no downtime after your facial. Some people experience mild flushing immediately post-treatment, but it typically settles quickly and does not prevent you from going about your day. You can apply makeup right away, although you may not want to cover up your refreshed complexion!
As precautions, we recommend limiting sun exposure after your facial and being mindful of what you put on your skin. Products containing harsh chemicals or irritants may aggravate your skin if it is sensitive post-treatment. Your Advanced Practice Aesthetician will recommend an appropriate skincare routine for you to follow after your facial.
What Kind of Results Can a Clinical Facial Achieve?
Most patients notice immediate improvements in skin texture and glow after their facial. Their skin looks and feels healthy, hydrated and supple.
Some treatments produce cumulatively more significant results with repeated sessions. For stubborn concerns like pigmentation and chronic conditions like acne, a series of treatments is more effective in achieving long-lasting results.
Your Advanced Practice Aesthetician will leave you with recommendations for sustaining your results. Your plan may include regular maintenance treatments, as well as a personalized skincare regimen to extend your results between appointments.
At LIVskin in Minnetonka and Excelsior, our facials range from $66 for a standalone dermaplaning session to $299 for a premium Hydrafacial. Add-ons are available for additional fees. Check our Packages and Monthly Specials for ways to save.
For most patients, a facial every four to six weeks is a good routine for ongoing skin maintenance. Each treatment builds on the progress of the last one. Your Advanced Practice Aesthetician may adjust this frequency depending on the type of facial, your skin condition and the results you're working toward.
Yes, but let your Advanced Practice Aesthetician know before your appointment. Certain products and techniques may not be appropriate during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Your aesthetician will tailor your treatment to make sure it is safe and comfortable for you.
Arrive with clean, product-free skin if possible. In the days before your appointment, avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids, as these products may increase the sensitivity of your skin. If you have any allergies or skin conditions, or are taking medications that affect your skin, let your aesthetician know during your consultation so we can plan accordingly.
Your care doesn't stop at the treatment room. We offer pharmaceutical-grade skincare products from SkinMedica®, Vivier®, Revision Skincare® and ( plated )® Skin Science to complement our treatments and enhance your results. Ask your Advanced Practice Aesthetician for their recommendations.
